G8 Prayer Summit

G8 Prayer Room Beautiful FeetThe G8 Summit is coming to the shores of Lough Erne in County Fermanagh on the 17th-18th June. A meeting that brings together leaders from eight countries – United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Russia – this will be a time when global issues are highlighted and big decisions are made.

Our leaders are meeting to discuss topics such as poverty, world food crisis, global terrorism, war, debt, human rights and human trafficking, natural resources, environmental issues

God calls His people to pray for our leaders...

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

1Timothy 2:1-4

G8 Prayer GuideAnd so this is what we are asking you to do. Pray over the G8 Summit, for the leaders who are meeting, for the global issues raised, for the Enniskillen area that will be impacted by the event, and for the many protestors who will be visiting the area. Transformations Ireland has created a G8 Prayer Guide to help you with this.

G8 Prayer Summit PosterThere are various events happening around the G8 Summit, and BSNI is delighted to be involved with the G8 Prayer Summit in Enniskillen running before and during the Summit. This G8 Prayer Summit comes in the shape of a Prayer Room inviting 96 hours of continuous prayer, open to the public during the day. Asking people to pray over the event this is a chance for local church members and people visiting the area to come together and put huge global issues in the hands of the King.

Held in Darling Street Methodist Church in Enniskillen this Prayer Summit is at the heart of the discussions, protests and media attention that will surround the G8 Summit. Click here to read a bit more about it.

So why is BSNI involved with the G8 Prayer Summit?

Leaders of eight developed and wealthy countries will be discussing key global issues, but where does the concern over worldwide Bible poverty fit in with this? This will not be an issue discussed by the leaders and so we as people of God need to be willing to take on the responsibility for it ourselves. As citizens of a more economically developed country we need to recognise the injustice of Bible poverty and stand up against it. And so, BSNI are inviting people to stand up in prayer; to state that there is an injustice and to proclaim that our Heavenly Father, the Creator of all things, has power over it.

Will you make a stand?

Please take the time to pray for this event, and if you are in the Fermanagh area then please do call in to Darling Street Methodist Church. The G8 Prayer Summit will be open to the public from 8am-10pm on Saturday 15th June – Tuesday 18th June.
